Special thanks here to Kathryn Evans, without whom most of this page could very easily have turned out blank, or at least about very different topics altogether.
NON-PROFITSI have spent a large amount of time working in some fashion for non-profit organizations. This has included tutoring GED-preparatory classes, teaching English as a second language, coordinating and facilitating a tutoring location, and even interning for the Dallas Chamber Music Society under the Executive Director.
I find it important to use a portion of my time in a philanthropic manner. Normally, I would work on the side for a non-profit organization, but I would very much like to help organize events or programs that collaborate between for-profit and non-profit businesses. In the past, I've volunteered/worked for the Literacy Council of Fort Bend, the Learn English Ministry, and the Dallas Chamber Music Society. |

MUSICAL THEATREFor years I have loved singing. I first joined the musical Ragtime in high school, and throughout my college years I've been in several productions, including Rent, Once Upon a Mattress, Songs for a New World, Red, Hot, and Cole, and university shows of Best of Broadway (V, VI, and VII) which each collects songs from six different shows. As a result of Best of Broadway productions, I have also studied characters such as

Directing
As a part of Best of Broadway VII, I tried my hand as an Assistant Director, leading choreography, blocking, and generally directing the set of A Very Potter Musical, as well as helping out in terms of choreography for the sets of Kiss Me, Kate and Company.
A Very Potter Musical was very different for Best of Broadway, as AVPM is very much not a professional show from Broadway. Nevertheless, I chose this show for its entertainment value, its relation to the theme (Comedy Tonight!), and the audience pull, considering the show was held at the University of Texas at Dallas. The show was fun to direct, but the cast was far more fun to lead--everyone loved being a part of the show and felt very free in their personal acting decisions, while remaining true to the overall tone of the production in song and dance. Though not a professional goal of mine, directing a part of a musical production was thoroughly interesting and entertaining. I hope to direct again in the future, especially in Best of Broadway VIII. |

...and I did! I was able to return for Best of Broadway VIII: Lights, Camera, Action to direct a much lesser-known Sondheim work, Merrily We Roll Along. It had flopped dramatically on Broadway, and was constantly undergoing "repairs" to make it a hit. I loved the music, so I thought I would try my hand at fixing this show. The cast and I certainly had something to prove, knowing that Merrily wouldn't too easily be a crowd-drawer and that the show is very difficult to pull off. However, the set was a hit, and many appreciated the great amounts of effort the cast put into the show. We had bonded over the difficulty of this show and the pride we put into making it great; this was truly an amazing experience. |

OPERAIn addition to musical theatre, I also very much appreciate opera (if not more so). Though I have not yet participated in a production of an opera, I hope to audition for the Dallas Opera in the future. (Chorus audition information here)
I've studied various arias in Italian, French, and German, including
